Strong team with a shortened season

The Waunakee Boys Basketball team is off to a start after a close 61-65 loss in their opener to undefeated Beaver Dam. Senior Nate Abel led his Golden Beavers to a win over the Warriors by racking up 26 points.
Senior Jaxson Zibell led Waunakee in scoring, tallying 14 total points with senior Caden Nelson and junior Andrew Keller each adding 12 points. At the half, the Warriors only trailed by one point, but the Golden Beavers managed to outscore Waunakee by three points in the second half.
Waunakee’s second game was not as close as the first. With a final score of 65-46, the Warriors suffered a double digit loss to Franklin.
The Warriors finally added a win to their resumé on Monday, January 11. Waunakee beat Columbus in an 8 point victory. The final score was 54-46, with junior Joey Fuhremann and freshman Robert Booker each adding 13 points.
In the following weeks, Waunakee added two more wins, against DeForest and Oak Creek, and added two more losses, against Monroe and Lourdes Academy. The Warriors (3-4) look to add more wins to their shortened season. You can stream Waunakee’s games online.
